The Beginning of Kuis Alkitab
Kuis Alkitab was born in 2017, shortly after my major turnaround in late 2016-early 2017. It was clear that God was moving fast after I surrendered my life to become His bondservant, Kuis Alkitab was one of the evidence.
Its founding stemmed from our observations during years of ministry in local churches. We noticed a significant gap: the church's absence in the digital world at a time when society was becoming increasingly digital, mobile, and busy.
Founders Profile
Kuis Alkitab was founded by 4 co-founders - it started with Jerry & Trisya, later joined by Rini and Novita. All four of us had extensive 10 years+ ministry experience—from Sunday school and mission fields to music and youth departments. Through these experiences, we know firsthand the problems plaguing churches and we witnessed the ever widening gap churches, young people and modern society.
Two of us - Jerry and Novita - also have extensive professional career in finance, investment and marketing. Both of us had extensive high level leadership experiences, in local and global companies, and had our shares of being in good company cultures as well as the bad ones.
The mix of ministry & professional backgrounds created a common desire among the four of us - if I may speak freely to a close friend here:
- To create an organization that avoids the entrapments seen in many religious organizations - such denominational rivalry, financial mismanagement or lack of transparency, excessive focus on traditions, rigid hierarchical structures, gatekeeping of resources and resistance to positive change and innovation. For this reason, we strategically position Kuis Alkitab as a non-profit and not a church or ministry.
- To create an organization that is equal or BETTER than worldly organizations out there. We're tired seeing Christian organizations being labeled as slow, outdated or lazy by general society. For once, we want to see a Christian organization that is able to compete with the world's organizations and show Jesus is more than able to outperform the world - no matter it's Pharaoh era or Elon Musk era!
Just fyi above are not the official organization vision and mission - those are the deeper desires among us☺️.
The official organization vision and mission statements are below:
Vision: To become the primary source of inspiration and destination for modern Bible study materials in Indonesia while providing value to the general public.
Mission:
- Provide modern, innovative, and up-to-date Bible study materials in Indonesia. The quality of our products should be equal to or better than similar secular products. Learning materials include books and educational toys.
- Build team character and organizational culture with high awareness of Christ's calling in the Foundation, along with care for the Indonesian Bible-reading community as beneficiaries, and society in general.
- Provide assistance to underprivileged communities.
- Develop an organizational character that is creative, professional, globally-minded, and continuously developing high expertise for creation, with standards equal to or above general workplace standards.
- Develop connections with Bible-reading communities throughout Indonesia, both directly and indirectly.
Christian Organizations are Outdated, Slow and Lazy? Not Us!
For some reason, the word “Christian” is (sadly) not synonymous with “tech”, “AI”, “Innovate” or even “Global” (at least in Indonesia).
Since 2017, thanks to our diverse backgrounds and skills, we have managed to prove that that notion is simply not true:
- Website KA with over 1.2 million pageviews in 2021.
- Instagram KA with over 22,000 followers and growing
- Youtube KA with over 12,000 subscribers and growing
- Children and Sunday School teachers WhatsApp community with over 2,000 members
- Thousands of modern digital Bible learning materials produced.
- Full spectrum AI tools used by our team's on a daily basis, from ChatGPT, Claude, AI image & video generation, work automation, gamification technology and many more!
- Nationwide all-Indonesia non-digital product distribution coverage
- Network with global Christian organizations
Go Global: Get the Stories Out and Bring the Ideas in
One pattern of work we found to be effective and useful is by connecting with Christian organizations outside of Indonesia, learn from their best practices and achievements and then bring it back home to Indonesia.
Indonesian churches have 3 main problems:
- There's very little modern Bible learning resources or robust curriculums being produced domestically.
- They have very limited resources, teaching tools and regular personnel trainings.
- Indonesians in general - including church leaders - have low English language proficiency, therefore unable to connect with outside world.
Kuis Alkitab aims to close those gaps by connecting with the global Christian communities to:
- Get the stories out: report the situation of Sunday school, churches and lack of learning materials in Indonesia to the world.
- Bring the ideas in: get fresh ideas from talking to global Christian organizations and bring them home, modify and implement in Indonesia.
Path Forward
In 2025, Kuis Alkitab aims to expand globally to meet more Christians organizations for fresh ideas to help Indonesian Bible readers and also to attract donations to support the organization.
Domestically, we aim to nurture the Sunday School community, create new Bible learning tools and prepare for our first visitation program to local churches across Indonesia.
